Objective: The Elder Abuse Prevention Committee hosts a World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) event every year on June 15th. These events showcase and educate stakeholders, providers, and community members on elements of elder abuse, abuse prevention, and resources for older adults.
Goal: Launch an education and awareness campaign regarding elder abuse awareness and prevention, targeting the general public, the Latino and Vietnamese communities, first responders, academic institutions, and mandated reporters. Plan, coordinate, and support communications activities around World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD).
Participating Organizations: Alzheimer’s Orange County, CalOptima Health, City of Garden Grove – H. Louis Lake Senior Center, City of Irvine – Lakeview Senior Center, Clear Choice Senior Services, Community Legal Aid SoCal, Council on Aging – Southern California, Human Options, Orange County Office on Aging, Orange County Social Services Agency, Radiant Futures, Radiant Health Centers, UCI Elder Abuse Forensic Center
